If POST/POP was a 90s film noir, Kenny Lee would be Keyser Soze. While this label has been slowly gaining traction, scoring awesome band after awesome band, Kenny Lee has been watching from the shadows, quietly engineering things with whispers and half-gestures. You liked all the HETTIE stuff we’ve put out? All produced by Kenny Lee. You liked the Apple Eyes tape? Kenny was in that band! You definitely loved the Model village albums we put out… yes Kenny is in that band too. You see, without you knowing it, Kenny Lee has been in your life for longer than you realise, so it’s about smegging time he put out his own album… and what an album it is! Featuring all of your favourite POST/POP artists such as HETTIE, Model Village, No Cars (Yes, No Cars is on this album! I know, I’m excited too!) + members of Wolventrix (not released anything on POST/POP yet weirdly!) and a few other surprise cameos.
‘The Constant’ (an obvious nod to the greatest episode of LOST, nay the greatest episode of TV ever) is essentially the soundtrack to your next decade. Chockablock full of pop songs you had only dreamt about, at times 80s while others firmly futuristic. It’s like if someone made a musical of that time you were truly happy, but had nobody around to share that happiness with and then suddenly you do. The culmination of years of graft in myriad bands, Kenny has finally written his opus, and for those that have kept an eye on his output since dot, it’s everything you never knew you wanted.
By now, if you’ve listened to any of the album, you will have already bought it. POST/POP is around to bring you new music on the format you love, and if you don’t like this then there is no point in anything. It’s like a best of POST/POP before I actually do one (soon!), so get it now using the link below or click on the shop link to the right!

BUY “RNDM” BY MEGA RAN HERE
It’s about damn time POST/POP did a hip-hop tape, but we waited until we had something real good and original. MEGA RAN is both of those things and more. Mixing old skool hip-hop with every genre you can think of, there is really something for everyone on RNDM. We have chiptune in there, we have some new wave stuff, we have some hardcore in there too, all accompanied by MEGA RAN’s (Raheem Jarbo) killer flow and I’m convinced this guy is going to be a crossover star. If I was Steven Speilberg, I’d use RNDM as the ready made soundtrack for ‘Ready Player One’ as its the ultimate hype music. Its fight music, if your name is Ryu and you are just about to take to the streets with your mate Ken, to face an enemy with limbs that stretch over 50 metres.
Have a listen; let me suggest ‘Infinite Lives‘ as a good starting place. You know, if you want to feel like you can punch a car until it explodes.
Its not just about party music though, there are moments where Raheem gets real and explains the current struggle of an artist in America, and sometimes just being a human being in America. All this, with the chameleon like ability to change from 90s hip-hop, to 80s hip-hop and then to 70s sounding jams with a flick of the tongue. Even though RNDM recalls the best of all these decades, it sounds so completely fresh, so 21st century, that it feels like we are listening to the future. The mix of styles, is so perfectly executed here, it almost caters to fans of every genre, regardless of musical prejudice.
To love it, is to listen to it. Limited to 50 tapes @ POST/POP and 50 with Mega Ran himself. Released today September 11th 2015. Buy now from the POST/POP Shop and you can find out more about Mega Ran in these places:
“Jed, have you heard the new Daphne & Celeste song? You’d love it!” said Dave Cronen, manager of ASH/Johnny Marr. I hadn’t at the time, but went home that night and watched the video. “Woah! Max Tundra produced this? Woah! Daphne & Celeste can really sing! Woah, there’s a Twin Peaks reference? Woah! its all about cassette tapes?” Yes Dave, I LOVE IT! So then I set about speaking to Mr. Tundra about releasing the cassette and this is it below!
There are so many reasons why I love this band. First of all just look at the photo below. Any band who actually got to hang out with Joey Ramone is okay in my book, but look, one of them is wearing a classic ASH tshirt, which makes this quite possibly, the greatest photo of all time.
The last time POST/POP had a Model Village release (2014’s “You Chose These Woes”) it ended up being one of the sounding tapes we have ever done. Chocablok full of incredible pop songs that showed no sign of relenting, so it was a shame we had to wait this long for some new tracks.
While the band are busy touring and preparing the new album (out in the Autumn and recorded metres away from the POST/POP office!) they managed to drop this EP. It’s called “Burger Party” and I can only assume it’s because thats an awesome name for an EP. Here is the official blurb:
Self-reliant sophistipop sextet Model Village return for 2015 with “Burger Party” – a 3-track EP of songs about family, pets, and unwarranted reunions.
